About This Spot

Stepping into Abe’s Hot Dogs feels like slipping into a warmly familiar corner of Wilkes-Barre where time slows down just enough to enjoy the simple pleasures of good food and relaxed conversation. This cozy, no-frills spot hums with laid-back energy, a quiet nod to the classic 1950s diner era without feeling stuck in the past. The small space invites you to settle in, whether you’re popping by for a quick bite or lingering over a casual lunch with friends or family.

Here, the menu quietly celebrates comforting, hearty fare with an unpretentious charm. The signature hot dogs, topped with rich meat sauce or piled with onions, come with a side of nostalgia — the kind that pairs perfectly with a glass of chocolate milk or crispy, gravy-smothered fries. Beyond hot dogs, the offerings include a thoughtful mix of sandwiches and small plates, from perfectly toasted Reuben melts to flaky pierogies and golden corn nuggets, each bite echoing a taste of home-cooked satisfaction.

The atmosphere reflects a tight-knit community vibe, made even richer by friendly staff who know regulars by name and welcome newcomers like old friends. This is a place where locals squeeze in together over chili cheese dogs and humbly revel in hearty, unpretentious flavors. There’s a quiet joy here in the everyday rhythms — the clinking of dishes, the sizzle from the grill, the easy chatter — that wraps you in a sense of belonging.

Whether you’re on a quick solo stop or sharing stories across the table, Abe’s offers more than just fast food; it’s a slice of authentic local life, served up with warmth and a side of familiar comfort.

Abe’s hot has always been a favorite of mine to go to. I like to consider myself a hotdog connoisseur of sorts so I like to get around when I’m traveling or even at home and find places and enjoy a hot dog here or there. My wife is not a fan of hotdogs and she enjoys them there at Abe’s. The times I’ve been there they have never been busy, but then again I am retired so I don’t go there at busy times. Go to Abe’s hotdog just get there before they close.

Best place for a tuna pita, reuben, and a hot dog. Abe’s atmosphere is cute - a 50s themed diner if you will. The prices are affordable, the service is great, and the food is excellent!

Better than the place next door!! We always stop for chilie cheese dogs and chocolate milk. So much fun to squeeze in and eat like a local.

My girlfriend grew up around here. Gave them a try and I loved it. Small diner style place serving breakfast and lunch. Small but tasty hotdogs and you have to try their chili dogs with the works. Don't forget your chocolate milk. Yes. You heard that right Great combo

Fries were hot with plenty of cheese. Hot dogs were not hot but warm. These dogs are all time classics and well worth stopping by for a couple.

Best place for a quick cheap bite to eat and the staff is the best my family and I have become kind of regulars here kids love the hotdogs. They greet you by your name when you walk in one of my top three places to eat close to the house!
